FLAMENCO ARTS INTERNATIONAL:
SONGS FROM A SINKING SHIP
DIRECT FROM SPAIN
Featuring legendary flamenco performers El Torombo, Juan Jose Amador, Eugenio Iglesias, Teresa Hernandez, Reyes Martin, Carlos Menchaca, and Marina Elana (Co-Artistic Director)
Directed by Jose Maldonado
A Fantastic Flamenco Voyage into the Unknown!
A mysterious siren’s warning sets off a chain of events that transforms a routine voyage into a supernatural battle between ego and redemption — all told through the passionate art of flamenco. Thunder cracks, and the ship veers off course. Will the crew rise above their own demons, or be lost to the depths forever?
Songs From a Sinking Ship is a bilingual, immersive flamenco experience that asks the question: When the ship is sinking, what will we do? The audience enters not as mere spectators, but as fellow passengers. As they board, they meet the crew—a cast that includes some of the most celebrated artists in the flamenco world.
Directed by José Maldonado and featuring world renowned flamenco artists: Juan José Amador, Eugenio Iglesias, Carlos Menchaca, Teresa Hernández, Reyes Martín, Marina Elana, and living legend El Torombo—in addition to live musicians—this production merges flamenco’s powerful traditions with immersive lighting, video projection, and interactive storytelling—elements rarely seen in the flamenco world. The result is bold, innovative, and deeply cathartic.
ABOUT FLAMENCO ARTS INTERNATIONAL
Flamenco Arts International is a groundbreaking new company, uniting cultural legacy with immersive theater. If you’ve never felt the power of flamenco, we invite you to step into a world that brings people together through a deeply emotional experience that moves, ignites, and transforms.
Founders Marina Elana (Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca, Alfonso Losa, and Pastora Galván) and Isabel del Día (Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca, Alejandro Granados, Carmen Ledesma) have navigated the rewarding and challenging landscape of flamenco for over 20 years. Through this, they formed a friendship and became part of a global flamenco community that helped carve their identities. By blending their unique, but complementary experiences as dancers, choreographers, educators, and community builders, Flamenco Arts International was born. Their fresh approach champions artists and blends mediums to create something new for audiences, exploring inventive ways of showcasing the history, as well as the future, of flamenco.
**The show includes flashing lights and haze.
