Hear from UC Irvine Law alumni about careers with the State of California! Attorneys working for the State of California practice in a variety of legal specialties including criminal, civil rights, labor & employment, consumer protection, environmental & land use, healthcare, antitrust, tort, immigration, and election law. They represent the state and its agencies in state and federal litigation (including administrative, trial and at appellate level), work on transactional matters, and provide advice to the state government and its agencies.

Panelists will discuss these and other topics:

Their day-to-day responsibilities: What does their agency and department do? What does a typical day look like for them? What kind of cases or projects do they work on?

Their career paths: How did they find their path into CA state government? Did they apply through an honors program or direct application? Entry level or lateral?

The application process: What are the application and interview processes like? What are some tips for applicants?

Advice for law students: What advice would you give to students interested in a career with the state of CA?

A Q&A session will follow. Come prepared with your questions!

This event is intended for UC Irvine Law students only.
