SCES is continuing to accept inquiries (for events within the booking release window) via UCI Eventive and to add inquiries to our holding queue. We will re-open for events beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021.
Limited services are currently available including The Hill, The UPS Store, and Panda Express.
Information About In-Person Events
In-person events will resume in SCES-managed venue spaces starting Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021.
Even though the Executive Directive regarding Gatherings has been rescinded, SCES is dealing with significant logistical concerns when it comes to resuming in-person events. SCES relies heavily on student staff to prepare rooms for events. As you can imagine, we lost all our student employees over the last year and are diligently working to hire and train approximately 200 student positions.
Due to logistics associated with SCES’ return to site, in-person events will not be able to resume prior to Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021 in SCES-managed venue spaces. As a result of our staffing shortage, we had to make some temporary event-related service adjustments in what we can accommodate. These adjustments will affect room setups, equipment availability, and operating hours that will apply until SCES is able to hire and train a new team.

SCES Is Accepting In-Person Event Inquiries
SCES is continuing to accept inquiries (for events within the booking release window) via UCI Eventive and to add inquiries to our holding queue. SCES will reach out to clients in the holding queue in the coming weeks. We recommend that clients consider online alternatives in such cases as:
- SCES-managed facilities are not available for the requested date(s),
- support resources are not available or sufficient, or
- other campus priorities or directives impact SCES’ ability to accommodate the in-person event.
SCES is unable to predict what campus directives or requirements may apply at the time of a proposed event. SCES Planners will contact clients who currently have events in the queue to work on alternate options if necessary.
Thank you for your understanding during this transitional period.
